Week 6, Thing 15

I think it's terrific that librarians are being forward thinking regarding our role in this now not so new technological era. As a library user, I am thrilled that I can access the library's research databases at 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 a.m.. As a librarian I am thrilled that more and more people are finding out what resources we have and how to use them. When the WWW (as we called it then) first came to be, I remember a lot of talk of the "paperless society". Thankfully, I don't think this will ever come to be. As for libraries becoming obsolete (and librarians along with them--remember--really good books never die, they just come out in paperback.
